Haglund's Deformity
Haglund's Deformity is commonly known as a "pump bump." This is a painful enlargement of the back of the heel bone that becomes irritated by shoes. The back of the heel may become red and inflamed. The syndrome usually occurs in women, due to the irritation of the shoe rubbing up and down on the back of the heel bone. Treatment for Haglund's Deformity consists of changing footwear, foot soaks to soothe the area and padding to protect the area as well as help prevent further irritation.
