Arch Pain
Arch pain is often due to plantar fasciitis (sometimes referred to as heel spur) but can also be due to the strain of any structure in the arch of the foot. A few factors that can contribute to arch pain are pronation of the foot (foot rolls inward at the ankle), flat feet, inadequate footwear, overuse and arthritis. For mild arch pain, there are a number of foot care products that can be used along with proper fitting footwear and stretching exercises for the calf muscles and arch. Some commonly used foot care products to help alleviate arch pain include arch supports and orthotics, arch bandages, insoles and pain relieving gels. For persistent arch pain, please consult a podiatrist or other medical professional.
